The most interesting thing to me is that there is a psychological component and we could get help from a professional to reevaluate who we are, why we’re doing things, and what we want now. Working is important and can be fulfilling but I think life should be more 50/50 if not 40/60 when it comes to work. I also am really joyful that so many jobs and professions are KNOWN to create burnout but there is little training and support for professionals going thru it. I think people in medical fields, people who do direct caring for others, therapists, social workers, police officers, military professionals, people who work in hospitals and nursing homes, teachers. Even hair stylists need to have burnout be part of the orientation and there should be more support within companies to help. Once we recognize the symptoms are cause by burnout we can be more conscious about how we react to them. Next time I feel road rage I’m going to try to control the way I react to it by saying ‘calm down. This is just your amygdala enlarging” and see how I react.
