Description Absolutely incredible time capsule of a grouping to a man KIA in the Waffen-SS 3rd Panzer Division SS-“Totenkopf” in an Infantry Regiment, this group identified to SS-Sturmmann Gerd Witten born March 18th, 1920. He would be in the Dunkirk Campaign, later occupying France, and later meet his fate on the Eastern Front on August 26th, 1941 in Kulakova during what was later known as the “Demjansk Pocket” fighting towards Leningrad. This group consists of some of the best larger period photos of TK men I’ve ever seen, a separate photo album, the letters sent to his parents from the government indicating he was KIA, his Wehrpass, other documents including some belonging to his father and his previous military service, separate pile of photos from the war all the way back to childhood, and even a hand written letter sent to his parents from his company Officer Obersturmführer Johannes Radünz, later promoted to Hauptsturmführer and killed April 24th 1942 in Nowoje – Ramuschewo. I’m always fascinated by groupings, in the U.S we rarely ever see legitimate German groupings, Totenkopf related ones are unheard of. This is a once in a lifetime set, this was only obtained one way possible and that is directly from a family member in Germany. Remarkable is an understatement when describing this amazing piece of WWII history.
