On offer is a rare 19th-century hand painted porcelain cup and saucer attributed to George Jones & Sons, dating to around 1876. George Jones, a respected Staffordshire manufacturer of the Victorian period, is widely admired for producing finely decorated porcelain with distinctive forms and beautifully executed naturalistic designs. This example features detailed botanical and insect motifs, all painted with exceptional precision. The cup has a pink-glazed interior and the characteristic George Jones triangular (7-shaped) handle, a feature associated with some of the firm’s most desirable designs. The matching saucer mirrors the same botanical decoration and is finished with gilt highlights. Condition is good for age, showing minor wear, including a small wear spot on the handle and a light stain under the rim. The cup stands approx 65mm high and the saucer measures approx 135mm in diameter. A highly collectible George Jones porcelain set that showcases the artistry and refinement of late Victorian ceramics.
