(Group swing mounted as worn) Miniature pair – Naval Good Shooting medal, (Edw VII) clasp, 1910; Naval Long Service and Good Conduct (Geo V) Charles Henry Bulbeck was born on the 22nd June 1881 in Bognor, Sussex. He served from 22nd September 1896, serving on various ships including, Impregnable, ST Vincent, Boscawen, Illustrious, Canopus, Cruiser, Wildfire, Severn, Pallas, Tenor, Bedford, June, Devonshire, Exmouth, Excellent 14th August 1913 to 1st August 1914, Europa to 5th November 1914, On a later service sheet it covers his service from10th January 1915, however we cannot read the initial “ship” clearly which appears to state, “Tyne” Addl for Petesel? He then joins HMS Royal Sovereign from 13th August 1920, then Tamar, Excellent (att Anti Gas school) Yarmouth, Victory (for Suffolk) Excellent from 28th August 1939 to 2nd September 1939, President III for DEMS instruction from 2nd September 1939, the next ship is unreadable but from28th August 1942, then President III (DEMS) from 1st October 1942 to 1st September 1945, reverts to retired list from the 2nd September 1945. He stated as a Boy 2nd class, , Ord Seaman 22nd June 899, . P.Ord 17th February 1904, His papers record that he received the Naval Good shooting medal 8th July 1910, then 1910 clasp. Commissioned Gunner 1st August 1922. His papers state “Retired 22nd June 1931” They also state Retired Lieut Commander 28th August 1942. A reference dated 5th July 1945 in his papers states “ An exceptional officer who has worked loyally and has kept his ship HMS Satelite” in a very clean, efficient condition. The great success and efficiency of this training establishment is entirely due to his zeal and ability” Original parchment certificate of service. Died 10th May 1966, Romsey, Hampshire. The Most Excellent Order of the British Empire, M.B.E. (Civil) Member’s 2nd type breast badge, silver, in Royal Mint case of issue. Naval general Service, clasp, Palestine, 1936-1939, J.X.138791 B.E. Bruce Errol Bulbeck was born on the 12th December 1917, South Stoneham, Southampton, Hants. He enlisted on the 21st March 1933, serving on St Vincent, Dauntern, Durban, Excellent, Nelson, Resolution His papers confirm that he received the 1937 Coronation medal. He is shown as serving on the Royal Yacht Victoria and Albert With original service record covering 1933 to 1940. Acting Sub-Lieut 22nd July 1940 Lieutenant 16th October 1941 Lieut Commander 16th October 1949 Commander 30th June 1957 The Most Excellent Order of the British Empire, M.B.E. (Civil), London Gazette 31st December 1982 Original award scroll dated 31st December 1982 for his M.B.E. Original Newpaper cutting “The Daily Telegraph, 31st December 1982” which includes his M.B.E. as a civilian award. A Photocopy of the Isle of Wight Weekly Post, January 1913:- “Commander Bruce, Errol Bulbeck, who lives with his wife in Springvale, Seaview began his Royal Navy career in 1933 on destroyers. After World War two he served on aircraft carriers, and in later years worked at H.M.S. Collingwood at Fareham. He retired from the MOD only a few weeks ago having completed a special defence project.” With US-Uk Polaris plaque (approx. dia 39cm) Died 28th February 1994, in Spain, buried Isle of Wight Condition – Generally GVF, M.B.E. group has been lacquered at some stage.
